Apparently they want to stop supporting Tiger in Firefox:

Aas admits that supporting Tiger is a "hindrance", but admits that the decision isn't quite as clear cut as the foundation would like. According to its own usage figures, 24% of people running the Mac version of Firefox 3.5 rely on Tiger, bolstered by a further 12% of Firefox 3.6 users.

I would actually pay somewhat for continued support!

If they dump 10.4, they'll lose 2 users in this house. Hello ... Safari? Camino? Who knows.

"Tiger is soooo Twentieth Century!"

Sorry, that does sound uncaring. blush-anim-cl.gif But, I think there are just too many core processes in the newer Leopard OSs that makes getting them into any Tiger app means a whole lot of extra code and maintenance, not to mention finding programmers who are still using that OS enough to know the problems.

As was mentioned in another thread, I think we will see things like this happening more and more as the OSs capabilities advance. Probably in open source and smaller company third-party apps first. It will simply take too much time to address multiple and quite different OSs. my .0002˘

I'm not too fond of Safari but I guess I don't really surf on one of the machines I'm concerned about; mostly just use iTunes to go to radio stations.
