I'm pretty sure this won't effect anything where I work but the 1st Generation Apple TV's are now considered to be obsolete by Apple. No more updates so they're insecure!

There may not be a whole lot of nostalgic love out there for the original Apple TV, but hobbyists and jailbreakers might still find the set-top box useful. Anyone who insists on hanging on to theirs might want to consider turning it into a Kodi box.

The other two casualties in Apple’s pending update are Windows XP and Vista. This is likely to affect a lot more users than the first Apple TV, as there are still millions of people on both of these operating systems. If you’re one of them, you should stop if you can help it. Windows XP isn’t secure and Vista sucks. Just stop it.

KODI, mentioned above, is a Linux type OS that can run on Apple and other hardware. I have never used it and know very little about it; but if there is a version that will work on an old Apple TV than it might be something to try!

If there really is no beer in heaven then maybe at least the
computers will work all of the time!

Mine has already been assigned to doorstop duty. wink.gif

Perhaps a more consequential problem for users of the original Apple TV is that they can no longer use the iTunes Store via that hardware. Apple Support via TidBITS

where a chicken can cross the road
without having its motives questioned.

Signals, holiday 2014
